Dementia Awareness Course 

This half-day workshop is intended for those who have an interest in dementia, particularly those supporting someone experiencing dementia and will give you a better understanding of what dementia is and how it impacts on those affected, as well as approaches to supporting someone with a dementia. 
It is designed to give you: 
 
The signs and symptoms of dementia 
How dementia affects behaviour, the senses and communication 
How to build positive relationships with people affected by dementia using increased knowledge, empathy and practical skills. 
Understanding what dementia is 
identifying the key functions of the brain that are affected 
Identify the most common types of dementia and their causes 
The signs and symptoms of these and the risk factors. 
Identify the prevalence rates for different types of dementia. 
Understanding factors relating to an individual’s experience of dementia 
The impact that the attitudes and behaviours of others may have on an individual with dementia. 
 
 
This workshop is delivered through a mixture of informative slides, videos, interactive activities and group discussion. 
 
All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance on completion of this workshop. 

Course Locations 

We are currently running courses Online, in; Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Dorset, Avon, Wilts and Gloucester as well as other areas of the UK upon request. We are able to deliver all of our courses and workshops for you in-house, or you're welcome to come and join us on a course in your area.
